Kamasi Washington's conceptual EP presents six movements exploring unity through diversity, the suite originally commissioned for the 2017 Whitney Biennial art exhibition. Recorded at Electro-Vox Recording Studios and structured in two sections, the first side features five shorter pieces ("Desire", "Humility", "Knowledge", "Perspective", "Integrity") representing individual perspectives, while the B-side's 13-minute "Truth" unifies all five themes into a single composition demonstrating how disparate elements can create harmonious whole. Released on 29 September 2017 by Young Turks and pressed at Germany's Optimal Media, this 12" EP includes booklet containing paintings and photographs from the project alongside release credits and digital download code.

The EP's compositional approach reflects Washington's interest in music as metaphor for social unity, each of the five initial movements exploring different emotional or philosophical territory before the closing "Truth" weaves all themes together. This structural concept mirrors the project's core message: individual voices maintaining distinct identities while contributing to collective harmony.
