South London drummer Yussef Dayes is known for the 2016 album Black Focus as Yussef Kamaal and his 2020 collaboration with Tom Misch, What Kinda Music. His 2023 debut solo album Black Classical Music won the Best Album Ivor Novello Award in 2024. His sound melds 1970s funk, Senegalese percussion and UK grime with contemporary jazz.
