Wes Montgomery

Wes Montgomery

Wes Montgomery (1923–1968), self-taught guitar innovator, famed for warm thumb-picked tone, octave lines and ringing chord solos. His Riverside classics The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery, Full House, and the live burner Smokin’ at the Half Note set the modern guitar standard; later Verve/A&M albums brought crossover success with soulful, pop-tinged charts.
