The Comet Is Coming—London trio of King Shabaka (Shabaka Hutchings), Danalogue (Dan Leavers) and Betamax (Max Hallett)—meld cosmic jazz, synths and propulsive grooves. Their Mercury Prize-shortlisted debut Channel the Spirits (2016) led to Impulse! releases Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery (and companion EP The Afterlife, 2019) and Hyper-Dimensional Expansion Beam (2022). The group paused activity after 2023.
