Sérgio Mendes
Sérgio Mendes (born 1941), Brazilian pianist, songwriter and bandleader, brought bossa nova and samba into global pop with his group Brasil ’66 on A&M Records. Hits include “Mas Que Nada,” “The Look of Love” and “Fool on the Hill,” featuring Lani Hall. Later line-ups (Brasil ’77) and albums like Brasileiro and Timeless renewed his crossover appeal.
