Joe Webb
Piano, Hammond Organ, Composer (Wales/London)
Born in Neath, Wales, a town famed for its industrial heritage and Welsh rugby, Webb began studying jazz piano at age 12 and attended the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff from 2009, graduating in 2012. The Joe Webb Trio moved to London and became involved with the Chaos Collective led by Laura Jurd, Elliott Galvin, and Corrie Dick. He featured on Corrie Dick's 2016 album Impossible Things and joined Kansas Smitty's House Band, formed in 2013. He released debut album Summer Chill in June 2022 on Ubuntu Music. In early 2024 he released EPs Collblanc and SET. His first full-length album Hamstrings & Hurricanes was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize 2025. He signed with Edition Records. Drawing inspiration from 1990s Britpop (particularly Oasis and Blur) and Welsh cultural roots, he blends traditional jazz with contemporary flair. He cites influences including Fats Waller, Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, Teddy Wilson, Duke Ellington, Franz Liszt, and Billie Holiday.
