Collection: Zé Ibarra
Born José Vitor Ibarra Ramos on 20 December 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Zé Ibarra is a singer, composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. Influenced by João Gilberto, Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Caetano Veloso, and Milton Nascimento, his career launched in 2012 with the band Dônica, formed with Lucas Nunes, Tom Veloso (son of Caetano Veloso), Deco Almeida, and Miguel Guimarães. Their debut album Continuidade dos Parques (2015) blended MPB with progressive rock through complex arrangements, earning critical acclaim and winning the 27th Brazilian Music Award for Best Group in 2016. In 2019, Ibarra joined Milton Nascimento's band as singer, guitarist, and musician for the Clube da Esquina tour (2019) and the farewell show Última Sessão de Música (2022), often opening these shows with his originals and Brazilian classics.
Ibarra co-founded the Latin Grammy-winning collective Bala Desejo, whose album SIM SIM SIM won acclaim and was performed at festivals including Rock in Rio, Primavera Sound, and Roskilde 2023. He collaborated with Gal Costa on a duet "Meu Bem, Meu Mal" for her 2021 album Nenhuma Dor, and with Ney Matogrosso and Duda Beat on "Bédi Beat". He released his solo debut Marquês, 256 in 2023. His second solo album AFIM was released in February 2025 via Mr Bongo. Known for his high-pitched, androgynous vocal style, Ibarra is recognised as one of the key figures in Rio de Janeiro's contemporary pop renaissance.
