Born José Vitor Ibarra Ramos on 20 December 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Zé Ibarra is a singer, composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. His career launched in 2012 with the band Dônica, formed with Lucas Nunes, Tom Veloso (son of Caetano Veloso), Deco Almeida, and Miguel Guimarães, releasing Continuidade dos Parques (2015), which blended MPB with progressive rock and won the 27th Brazilian Music Award for Best Group in 2016. In 2019 he joined Milton Nascimento's band as singer, guitarist, and musician for the Clube da Esquina tour (2019) and farewell show Última Sessão de Música (2022). He co-founded the Latin Grammy-winning collective Bala Desejo, whose album SIM SIM SIM was performed at Rock in Rio, Primavera Sound, and Roskilde 2023, and collaborated with Gal Costa on "Meu Bem, Meu Mal" for her 2021 album Nenhuma Dor. He released solo debut Marquês, 256 in 2023 and his second album AFIM in February 2025 via Mr Bongo, blending jazz, pop, and 1970s and 1980s influences with string arrangements by Jaques Morelenbaum. Known for his high-pitched, androgynous vocal style, Ibarra is recognised as a key figure in Rio de Janeiro's contemporary pop renaissance.
