Collection: Adrian Younge

Adrian Younge records analogue-style soul, funk and jazz from his Linear Labs studio in Los Angeles, playing much of it himself on bass and keyboards. A self-taught composer who began by sampling records on an MPC, he first reached wider audiences with the Black Dynamite soundtrack (2009, Wax Poetics), then revived his Italian-influenced Venice Dawn EP as Something About April (2011). He has worked with Ghostface Killah on Twelve Reasons to Die (2013), with William Hart on Adrian Younge Presents the Delfonics (2013) and with Souls of Mischief on There Is Only Now (2014), and has scored Luke Cage with Ali Shaheed Muhammad. In 2017 the pair co-founded Jazz Is Dead, a label whose numbered series pairs veterans such as Roy Ayers, Azymuth and Gary Bartz with Younge’s rhythm-section arrangements.
