Adrian Younge

Adrian Younge

Multi-Instrumentalist and Producer | b. 1978

Adrian Younge builds records that sound like vintage soul and funk sessions: warm analogue tape, strings, bass and keyboards, much of it played by him. Raised in Fontana, California, and working from Los Angeles, he began by sampling records before learning several instruments and composing his own scores. He released the Black Dynamite soundtrack (Wax Poetics, 2009) and Something About April (2011), then worked with Ghostface Killah on Twelve Reasons to Die (2013) and with the Delfonics’ William Hart on Adrian Younge Presents the Delfonics (2013). Since 2017 he has run the Jazz Is Dead label with Ali Shaheed Muhammad, issuing collaborations with Roy Ayers, Azymuth and Gary Bartz, and he has scored Luke Cage for television.
