Reissued in 1977 by Blue Note Japan (GXF 3004 / BST 81588), Cool Struttin’ is pianist Sonny Clark’s masterpiece. A flawless slice of late-’50s hard bop that has become one of the most iconic Blue Note albums of all time. Originally recorded by Rudy Van Gelder in 1958, the session swings with a relaxed confidence and deep bluesy charm.

The quintet features an impeccable lineup: Art Farmer on trumpet, Jackie McLean on alto saxophone, Paul Chambers on bass, and “Philly” Joe Jones on drums.
