Yussef Kamaal was the London duo of drummer Yussef Dayes and keyboardist Kamaal Williams (Henry Wu). Their 2016 album Black Focus ignited the UK jazz renaissance with breakbeat drums, Rhodes-led grooves and broken-beat, grime and funk flavours. Though short-lived, the project’s live energy and tracks like “Strings of Light” became a blueprint for modern London jazz.
