Weather Report was an American jazz fusion band active from 1970 to 1986, founded by keyboardist Joe Zawinul and saxophonist Wayne Shorter. Their 1977 album Heavy Weather, featuring the iconic 'Birdland', sold over one million copies. The band won five consecutive DownBeat Album of the Year awards and a Grammy for their 1979 live album 8:30. With members including Jaco Pastorius, Peter Erskine and Miroslav Vitouš, they became one of the most influential jazz fusion groups in history.
