Miles Davis

Miles Davis

Miles Davis (1926–1991), trumpeter and bandleader, was jazz’s great shape-shifter. From bebop roots and “Birth of the Cool” to modal landmarks like Kind of Blue, then electric eras – In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew – he kept reinventing the music. His bands launched giants including John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock and Tony Williams.
