Keith Jarrett (born 1945), pianist and composer, defined improvised solo piano and reshaped the jazz standard. For ECM he recorded Facing You and the landmark The Köln Concert. With the Standards Trio, featuring Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette, he set a modern small group benchmark. Earlier came his American and European quartets, plus acclaimed Bach and classical albums.
