Johnny Hartman
Johnny Hartman (1923-1983) was an American jazz singer known for his rich baritone voice and recordings of ballads. He sang with Earl Hines' and Dizzy Gillespie's big bands and is best remembered for his 1963 collaboration with John Coltrane, 'John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman', a landmark album and Coltrane's only recording with a vocalist. He earned a Grammy nomination in 1981 for 'Once in Every Life'. Clint Eastwood featured his music in The Bridges of Madison County (1995).
