Edmond Hall

Edmond Hall (1901-1967) was an American jazz clarinetist and bandleader known for his exuberant, rough-edged solos. Born in Reserve, Louisiana, he worked with Claude Hopkins, recorded extensively for Blue Note and Commodore, and was best known for the 1941 classic 'Profoundly Blue' featuring Charlie Christian. He joined Louis Armstrong's All-Stars in 1955 and was voted second-best clarinetist in the 1945 Esquire poll behind Benny Goodman.
