Django Reinhardt

Django Reinhardt

Django Reinhardt (1910–1953), Belgian-born Romani-French guitar genius, co-founded the Quintette du Hot Club de France with Stéphane Grappelli. After a caravan fire limited two fretting fingers, he created a dazzling two-finger technique and the acoustic swing style later called Manouche/“gypsy” jazz. Signature pieces include “Minor Swing,” “Nuages,” “Djangology” and “Swing 42.” Enduring influence.
