Bob James (born 1939), pianist/keyboardist, composer and producer, helped define 1970s CTI jazz-funk and later smooth jazz. His track “Nautilus” became a hip-hop sampling staple; “Angela” is the beloved Taxi theme. A founder of Fourplay (with Nathan East, Harvey Mason and Lee Ritenour), he’s released classics like One, Two, Touchdown, and GRAMMY winner One on One (with Earl Klugh).
