Recorded in November 1974 at Rudy Van Gelder's Englewood Cliffs studio with an all-star ensemble featuring flutist Hubert Laws, guitarist Jay Berliner, pianists Roland Hanna and Leon Pendarvis, drummer Billy Cobham, and percussionist Ralph MacDonald, the four extended compositions blend Latin rhythms with jazz improvisation and contemporary production aesthetics. Producer Creed Taylor's vision for accessible yet sophisticated fusion finds ideal expression in Carter's compositions, the bassist's melodic sensibility and impeccable time making him perfect vehicle for CTI's crossover ambitions.
