About Lush Life Records
Lush Life Records is an online jazz vinyl shop based in Sydney, Australia. We launched in October 2025 and stock new pressings, reissues, and vintage records across jazz, soul, funk, and the genres jazz bleeds into.
The mission is simple. Get the world's best jazz on vinyl into Australian hands, and give Australian jazz a place on the shelf next to the canon it grew out of.
What we stock
The catalogue centres on jazz: hard bop, modal, spiritual, fusion, free, European ECM-style records, Brazilian jazz, and contemporary releases from the UK, US, Australia, and beyond. Core labels include Blue Note, Verve, Impulse, Riverside, CTI, ECM, Brownswood, International Anthem, and Strata-East. We carry a focused selection of Japanese pressings, particularly 1970s and 1980s King and Toshiba editions, which are some of the best sounding and most beautifully made jazz vinyl ever produced. We work closely with UK label Mr Bongo and stock a wide selection of their catalogue.
Beyond jazz, we stock soul, funk, and crossover records that share jazz DNA. Genre lines are blurry, and we don't try to police them. If a record feels like a Lush Life record, we'll stock it.
The catalogue is small and getting bigger. We currently list around 380 titles across the Shopify store and Discogs, and we add new stock weekly.
How we work
We curate. We carry hundreds of titles, not tens of thousands. If a record is on the site, it's because we'd play it at home.
We price as fairly as we can. Most jazz vinyl in Australia is imported, which is most of why it's expensive. Our policy is straightforward: price each record at a fair markup over what we paid. If we get something cheap, we pass the saving on. For now, every cent of profit goes back into buying more stock.
We also champion Australian jazz. The local scene is one of the strongest in the world and gets a fraction of the shelf space it deserves. We stock as much of it as we can find on vinyl.
Who's behind it
Will Turner runs Lush Life. He grew up in the UK, lives in Sydney, and has been collecting jazz vinyl for more than twenty years. He started, like a lot of people, with Kind of Blue, but it was A Love Supreme is what tipped him in. Every record on the site has been chosen, graded, and packed by him.

Shipping
We ship Australia-wide from Sydney. $9.95 standard, free on orders over $100. Weekday orders are dispatched the next day. International shipping to New Zealand and Asia Pacific is rolling out first, with the UK, Europe, and North America to follow through 2026.
Why "Lush Life"
The name comes from John Coltrane's 1961 Prestige album, and behind that, the Billy Strayhorn standard. Strayhorn wrote "Lush Life" in his teens, taking the phrase from contemporary slang for "a drunk's life", elegant on the surface and dissolute underneath. That double edge is what we like about jazz. Not background music. Beautiful but not always. It's got soul, blues, and grit.
