He attended the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff from 2009, studying jazz with some of the country's finest jazz musicians, and graduated in 2012. He moved to London and became involved with a dynamic group of young jazz musicians led by trumpeter Laura Jurd, pianist Elliott Galvin, and drummer Corrie Dick who called themselves Chaos Collective. Drawing inspiration from the emotive depth of 1990s Britpop (particularly Oasis and Blur) and his Welsh cultural roots, he seamlessly blends traditional jazz with contemporary flair. His innovative approach breathes new life into classic jazz idioms. He cites influences including Fats Waller, Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, Teddy Wilson, Duke Ellington, Franz Liszt, and Billie Holiday. He plays stride piano with the tempo and attitude of a rock guitarist — his references run from Duke Ellington and Art Tatum to Oasis and Blur, and he doesn't treat these as contradictions. Hamstrings & Hurricanes is his first full-length album for Edition Records, made with his regular trio: Will Sach on bass and Sam Jesson on drums. Alex Killpartrick recorded; Alex Bonney mixed and mastered.

Twelve of the thirteen tracks are Webb originals. "Some Jesson" (A5) is named for the drummer; the Welsh titles — "Beth Yn Galw" (What's Calling), "Breuddwyd Cariad" (Love Dream), "Hiraeth" (a Welsh word for longing or homesickness, without an exact English equivalent) — place the album within a specific cultural inheritance even when the music itself moves between swing, modal jazz and something harder to categorise. "Squeeze Me," the closing cover, is Fats Waller's — a logical landing point given Webb's stride foundation. Webb described "Hiraeth" in press materials as his attempt at a more chilled version of Oasis's "Shakermaker," and the handwriting on the album's cover was directly inspired by the Definitely Maybe sleeve.
